What is a Thumper?

A “Thumper” is a nickname given to single cylinder, four-stroke motorcycles, named after the distinctive sound the engine makes. Yamaha produced a wide range of single cylinder motorcycles during the 1970’s and 1980’s, which have become popular among enthusiasts for their simplicity, reliability, and classic design.
