Exhaust
Supertrapp

The Supertrapp exhaust is a popular aftermarket choice for the TT and XT (and sometimes SR!) partly due to the cost of a good condition original silencer but also because of the performance, sound and unique look.
It features a series of discs that can be used to adjust the backpressure and sound level of the exhaust. More discs generally result in a louder exhaust with less backpressure, while fewer discs create more backpressure and a quieter sound.
Since the Supertrapp is naturally free flowing, it often requires a larger jetting setup to compensate for the increased airflow. It’s recommended to go up around a 250 main jet.
They’re still manufactured today, and the newer models are still seen fitted to vintage thumpers, however for a period accurate look it’s best to find one from the 70’s like below.

I’ve found that starting at 8 discs is a good balance for street use, providing a nice sound without being too loud. You can always experiment with adding or removing discs to find the perfect setup for your riding style.
Installation is straightforward, it features a long J bolt that hooks inside the silencer, the discs are stacked on top of eachother and the end cap is bolted on to hold everything in place with two locking nuts and a cap nut. I first thought the spring wouldn’t want to be compressed all the way however it will expand from the heat of the exhaust once running so it’s best to compress it fully during installation.
